India are without Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul for the white-ball matches in New Zealand.
Stand-in captain Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill, and Deepak Hooda were part of the net session before the first T20I. BCCI shared a video of Indian players hitting big shots, indicating that the upcoming three-match series against the Kiwi would be a high-scoring affair.
Sanju Samson and Shreyas Iyer hit no-look sixes. They both were not in the squad for the ICC T20 World Cup. While Iyer was seen hitting no-look sixes, Samson dispatched the ball over the square leg and the long leg. The shots earned praise from the Indian cricketers and support staff.

The stand-in head coach VVS Laxman wants players to play aggressive cricket in New Zealand. “The approach has to be different in T20Is. You can’t play slowly. There is a need for bowlers who can bat a bit when required.”
