Team India’s captain Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli landed in Chennai for the first Test against Bangladesh. The contest will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium from September 19. Both were last seen in action during the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Kohli left for London after the games to be with his family, while Rohit was seen working on his fitness in Mumbai.

They were seen walking out of the airport amid security.

Virat was not among the runs against Sri Lanka, scoring just 58 runs at an average of 19.33 as the visitors lost the series 0-2.

Prior to fifty-over games, he managed just one fifty-plus score in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Although he was named Player of the Match for his innings in the final against South Africa, the 35-year-old looked out of touch.

On the other hand, Rohit scored more than 250 runs and finished as the second-highest-run scorer in the global tournament. He was also the team’s highest run-getter in one-day internationals against the Island Nation.

With India playing 10 Tests in the next few months, Virat and Rohit’s form will play a key role. The subcontinent nation will also host New Zealand for three Tests before traveling to Australia for five red-ball games.
