Team India stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane, after returning home from Australia, received a grand welcome in Mumbai for creating history Down Under.
With their backs against the wall, especially in the absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli, the visitors came from 0-1 down to win the four-match Test series 2-1.
Chasing a total of 324 runs on Day 5 of the fourth and final Test in Brisbane, the visitors pulled-off one of the greatest Test cricket run chases to end Australia’s 32-year-old invincibility at the Gabba.
On Thursday morning, Rahane returned back to Mumbai and was given a grand welcome. Fans gathered in huge numbers to welcome Rahane, who is so far unbeaten as a captain.
Rahane’s wife and daughter were also present on the occasion as they posed for the paparazzi with dhol playing in the background.
“Welcome back home, champ – a thoroughly deserving hero’s reception for Jinks Rahane! Next up, England and #IndiaHaiTaiyar for bringing out the fireworks at home! Fisted hand #INDvENG,” Star Sports captioned a video.
India will now host England for a full-fledged series, starting from February 5. Both teams will lock horns in 4 Tests, 5 T20Is, and 3 ODIs.
