Mumbai Indians (MI) head coach Mahela Jayawardene was recently seen having fun with fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
The five-time champions shared a video of Bumrah bowling to young South African batter Dewald Brevis. Kieron Pollard, who was at the non-striker’s end, was seen encouraging the right-handed batter.
MI shared the funny video on their social media handles with the caption: “And for a change… BOOM gets clean bowled! 🤯 By none other than @MahelaJay! 🤭😂 #OneFamily #MumbaiIndians @Jaspritbumrah93 @KieronPollard55 MI TV.”
Reacting to Pollard’s words, Bumrah was heard saying:
“When I was young, I don’t remember words of encouragement coming from the non-striker’s end.”
Jayawardene joined the banter and replied: “Mali (Lasith Malinga) was there. You didn’t understand it.”
Everyone liked the Sri Lankan legend’s response. While Kieron and Jasprit were retained by the Mumbai-based franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Brevis was purchased for INR 3 crore.
