Williamson took a stunning diivng catch against Pakistan

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson returned to the playing XI for the Pakistan game for the first time since fracturing his thumb against Bangladesh.

With a bruised and bandaged thumb, Williamson missed out on his third World Cup century by just five runs and amassed 95 (79), which featured 10 fours and two sixes.

Not only did Williamson perform with the bat, he took a blinder in the field to draw first blood for New Zealand.

On the last ball of the 2nd over, in-form Abdullah Shafique played a shot down the ground, and it went high in the air towards mid-on where Williamson was standing.

Kane had to run backwards to get near the ball, and he covered a distance of 17-metre running backwards before making a full-stretched dive to take a scintillating catch.

The fans hailed Williamson’s effort despite having knee surgery and fracturing his thumb recently. Here is the video of the catch.

The catch will go down as a strong contender for the catch of the tournament. Talking about the match, New Zealand, batting first, put 401 runs on the board.
