England’s new Test captain Ben Stokes was on fire as he slammed a 64-ball century for Durham against Worcestershire in a County Championship match. Stokes scored 34 runs off an over, which included five consecutive sixes and a four as Durham declared their innings at 580/6.
He was dismissed after accumulating 161 off 88 balls. Stokes created history as he smashed 17 biggies, which is the most in a single County championship innings.
Last month, he replaced Joe Root as Test skipper, who stepped down following England’s defeat in the Ashes and West Indies. His first assignment will be in June when England host New Zealand for a Test series.
