As the much-awaited World Test Championship (WTC) final is set to kick-off on June 18 in Southampton, Indian players are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for the all-important clash against New Zealand. Ajinkya Rahane is no different.
India’s Test vice-captain recently took to his official Instagram handle and shared a video in which he can be seen practicing in the nets.
Captioning the clip, Rahane wrote, “Getting the basics right ahead of the game.”
The Indian side is currently playing an intra-squad match in Southampton.
Meanwhile, Kiwis are currently riding high on confidence as they defeated the Joe Root-led side in the second and final Test at the Edgbaston to clinch the two-match series on English soil after 22 years.
Notably, the winners of the WTC finale will take home a hefty amount of USD 1.6 million along with the ICC Test Championship Mace. On the other hand, the losing team will get USD 8,000,00 for finishing second in the nine-team competition.
The prize money for the team finishing at the third spot in the WTC Standings is USD 4,50,000 while the fourth team will be awarded USD 3,50,000.
Kohli & Co. will next take on England in the five-match Test series which is scheduled to get underway from August 4 after the conclusion of the WTC final.
