Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori has spoken about Hardik Pandya's best batting position for the upcoming home series against South Africa.

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer made a significant comment on India’s T20 World Cup team for the upcoming edition in Australia. He feels Venkatesh Iyer is ahead of Hardik Pandya for the all-rounder’s role in the Indian team.

Jaffer comment came moments after the Men in Blue’s 17-run win at the Eden Gardens helped them script a whitewash win against West Indies. Iyer scored 35 off 19 balls and took two wickets to play an important role in the team’s victory.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Jaffer admitted that Iyer has moved ahead of Hardik in the race to cement his spot in the T20 World Cup squad. However, he also stated that the 5th season of the Indian Premier League would play a key role for Pandya, where he will be leading the Gujarat Lions.

“At this point of time, I feel he’s a little bit ahead because there is no updat5e about Hardik Pandya’s fitness. Of course, his performance in IPL 2022 will be a deciding factor, but at this point, Venkatesh is ahead of Hardik Pandya,” he said.
