Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer has trolled Michael Vaughan for backing New Zealand to defeat Virat Kohli-led side in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final, starting on June 18 in Southampton.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, the former England skipper wrote, “NZ are a high-class team… Read the situation with the bat in hand, skilful with the ball & catch brilliantly… Really fancy them to beat India next week…”
Vaughan’s tweet came after the Kiwis thrashed England by eight wickets on Day 4 of the second and final Test to win their first-ever Test series on English soil in 22 years.
Despite being without the likes of regular captain Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, and BJ Watling, the visitors produced a strong performance and outclassed Joe Root-led side.
With the emphatic 1-0 series win over England, the Kiwis will be riding high on confidence as they gear up to face India in the much-anticipated WTC final.
Meanwhile, reacting to Vaughan’s latest tweet, Jaffer shared a hilarious meme from the blockbuster Bollywood film ‘Welcome’.
The meme reads, “Tera kaam ho gaya tu ja (your work is over you go)”
Vaughan and Jaffer have often seen taking digs at each other on social media platforms. In the recent past, the 46-year-old reminded Jaffer that he had once dismissed him at Lord’s.
“Have you still not recovered from me getting you out at Lords !??” Vaughan tweeted.
