Former India batsman VVS Laxman has showered praise on Suryakumar Yadav after his match-winning performance in the fourth T20I against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The 30-year-old batsman, who was dropped from the playing XI for the third T20I, played a scintillating knock of 57 runs off just 31 balls in the fourth game.

Suryakumar, playing in his second T20I, impressed everyone when he smashed a six off Jofra Archer on his first-ever ball in international cricket.

Lauding SKY’s batting efforts, Laxman pointed out that Suryakumar has a wide range of shots in his arsenal and is truly a “match-winner” for the Men in Blue.

“The timing we saw in the fourth match, the way he placed the ball and the manner in which he was coming behind the line of the ball while playing the pacers and playing creative shots,” the 46-year-old said on Star Sports Network.

“My favourite shot was the maximum he hit over extra-cover against Adil Rashid. He can play the sweep as well, so he is an all-round player and is a match-winner,” Laxman added.

Speaking of the match, SKY’s innings powered the hosts to 185 runs in Ahmedabad.

In reply, England fell short by just 10 runs and India levelled the five-match series at 2-2.

Both teams will next take on each other in the series-decider on March 20.
