Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar said that Virat Kohli is among the best ODI batters but it is difficult it’s to look past West Indies legend Vivian Richards when it comes to labeling him as the greatest batter of all-time in one-day internationals.

Kohli has hit three hundreds in recent times. He is just 4 centuries behind to break Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record of 49 ODI centuries.

He has accumulated 19 runs in the 2 ODIs against New Zealand in a 3-match series.

Adding that Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni were also great, Sanjay Manjrekar said he had no doubt that the all-time great title should go to Viv Richards.

In 187 ODIs, Richards scored 6721 at an average of 47 and a staggering strike rate of 90.

“When it comes to modern era, Virat Kohli is right up there. Sachin Tendulkar is also one of the greats. MS Dhoni was also one of the finest,” he said.

“But there is no one who can come close to Vivian Richards. He was sensational from 70s to 90s. He averaged 47 and a strike rate of 90,” he added.
