Former Indian captain Kapil Dev has reacted to Virat Kohli’s decision of stepping down from Test captaincy. He believes Virat was under a lot of pressure since leaving his leadership role in T20Is. However, the veteran added that we can’t afford to lose Virat, the batter.

“I welcome his decision as he was going through a rough time. He has looked tense in the recent times and was under a lot of pressure. We have to support him as we can’t lose Virat, the batter,” said Kapil Dev.

“Sunil Gavaskar played under me. I played under Mohammed Azharuddin. I had no ego and naturally Virat will have to leave his ego and help his skipper in whatever way he can. He has to guide the players as well,” he added.
