There is no end to conflicting reports emerging out of the BCCI camp on Virat Kohli’s participation in the ODI series between India and South Africa. BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has added a new twist. He claimed that Virat requested a break after the Test series.
On Tuesday, it was claimed that Virat would be skipping the three one-day internationals in South Africa. The led to the speculation that All was not well between him and Rohit. However, by evening, it was reported that Virat would play the fifty-over series.
Speaking to Times Now, Dhumal said that Virat Kohli’s initial decision to not play the ODIs had nothing to do with his removal from the captaincy.
“To my understanding, before any decision was taken with regards to captaincy, it was decided that he (Kohli) will be going (to South Africa) for the Test matches only, not for the ODIs. He was wanting it that way because he needed a break.”
