Virat Kohli, who has been with the side since 2008, had stepped down from his role after the conclusion of the 14th season in the UAE.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained Virat Kohli, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and pacer Mohammed Siraj for IPL 2022. The team is looking for a new skipper after Virat left the role following the conclusion of the 14th season of the tournament.

However, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh feels RCB might hand the responsibility of captaincy again to Virat. The spin great listed options for the role on his YouTube channel but said Kohli’s return to leadership is the best choice for the Bangalore-based team.

“Despite having big names, RCB is yet to win a title. AB de Villiers has retired, and Kohli is more a captain. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are the options, but Kohli will have to retake the role. RCB won’t get a better captain than him,” said Harbhajan Singh.

“RCB is making a new team, and I won’t be surprised if he agrees to lead the side for the two years. The team also needs to groom a young player who can lead them in the future. If they get Ishan or Shreyas, they can be good picks as future leaders,” he added.

Harbhajan further mentioned that David Warner and Aaron Finch are the other two names who can take up the captaincy role at RCB.
