Virat Kohli will be playing his 100th Test match at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali without fans. The Punjab Cricket Association CEO Deepak Sharma stated that spectators would not be allowed in the first Test between India and Sri Lanka, starting from March 4.
The 33-year old will be playing his milestone match under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, who is leading India for the first time in Test cricket. The second Test match will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
“The opening match will be played behind closed doors with no fans allowed,” Punjab Cricket Association CEO Deepak Sharma was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. After India’s 1-2 defeat in South Africa, Kohli had stepped down from Test captaincy.
As a captain, he led the Indian team to 40 victories in 68 Tests. Kohli has the fourth-best winning percentage after Steve Waugh, Don Bradman and Ricky Ponting as a skipper.
India qualified for the finale of the ICC World Test Championship under Virat.
