Virat Kohli
The former India captain is often slammed for his strike rate.

Mohammad Kaif has made a bold prediction about Virat Kohli. He said Virat will open the batting with Rohit Sharma or Yashasvi Jaiswal in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The former India captain is often slammed for his strike rate in the shortest format of the game, and if the reports are to be believed, the team management doesn’t want him in the team for the World Cup in the West Indies and the United States of America.

However, Kaif hit back at the criticism, saying that Virat will be unstoppable in the remaining matches of the IPL 2024, and he will play for the Men in Blue in the global event.

“If you put up a question mark in front of Virat Kohli, he will not spare you. Look how he performed against Punjab Kings. He went hard against all the bowlers. This guy will be unstoppable in the IPL.

“Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal will not be the opening paid for India in the World Cup; One of them will pair with Virat Kohli. Virat will open the innings for the Indian team,” he said on Star Sports.

Earlier, the batter himself hit out at the doubters after getting the Player of the Match award in the last game against PBKS. “My name is being used to promote T20 cricket in other parts of the world. I think I have it in me, I guess,” he had said.

The veteran is the leading run-scorer in the history of the Indian Premier League, with over 7000 runs coming from his bat. Kohli wants to play in the T20 World Cup, and that’s why he made himself available for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.

If he performs well in the league, there is no way he can be kept out of the traveling squad.
