Virat Kohli recently hinted at changes in the Test team for the five-match series between India and England. The defeat in the finale of the World Test Championship against New Zealand had triggered a sharp reaction from the India skipper.
As per a report in the Times of India, the Indian team management is thinking of dropping Cheteshwar Pujara. Virat Kohli could be promoted to the number 3 spot and make space for the likes of Hanuma Vihari and KL Rahul.
In fact, there’s also a chance of Shubman Gill playing in the middle-order with KL Rahul or Mayank Agarwal opening the batting with Rohit Sharma. Shardul Thakur might replace Ravindra Jadeja, who struggled against New Zealand. The all-rounder failed to score runs and was hardly impressive while bowling.
Considering the workload of Mohammed Shami, the fitness issues of Ishant Sharma, and the poor performance of Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj is set to play an important role against England.
