COVID-19 threat is looming over the final and fifth rescheduled Test between England and India. Already a positive case has been reported in England camp while R Ashwin is in isolation after testing positive. Now it is being reported by InsideSport that Virat Kohli had tested COVID-19 positive before arriving in England.
Virat’s result came positive ahead of the all important game. Kohli had gone to Maldives for a short vacation with wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika.
“Yes, Virat too was hit by Covid after returning from holiday in Maldives, but he’s recovered now.”
England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has confirmed that England team’s batting coach Marcus Trescothick is also down with the virus.
England captain Ben Stokes is also feeling unwell.
The officials of the BCCI are unhappy with Virat and captain Rohit Sharma as despite all the suggestions they were seen meeting with fans without mask and social distancing.
“The Covid threat is reduced in the UK. But still players should be more careful. We will ask the team to be a little careful,” said Arun Dhumal BCCI treasurer to InsideSport.
