Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes Kohli should take a three-month break from cricket to spend time with family.

Rishabh Pant was slammed for his captaincy in South Africa series. Although India managed to draw the series 2-2 after losing the first two games, Pant was not convincing as a captain.

Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has lambasted Pant for his leadership. He feels Pant is not mature, and the pressure of captaincy is impacting his batting.

“Rishabh Pant is not mature enough to be captain. He got a chance to lead the side in the South Africa series, but he was horrible. So he should be kept away from a leadership role in the future,” said Kaneria on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma has tested positive for Covid-19, putting doubts over his availability for the last Test against England.

Kaneria said India can appoint Virat as captain if Rohit is not available.

“Kohli should lead India as he has the experience. Pant and Bumrah are not capable of handling the pressure. So the best option for India is to give the captaincy to Kohli. He can return if India doesn’t find any other option.”
