Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali said that Shubman Gill’s aggressive approach during the third Test was like Virat Kohli’s intensity and may have triggered England. He spoke about the latest game between the two countries during the Global Super League (GSL), in which he is playing for the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

“For me, it was fine. Shubman Gill was trying to be competitive like Virat Kohli,” he said. Moeen felt that it pumped up England and brought their beast mode to the forefront.

“I think he brought out the fighting spirit of England and they were able to show their beast mode,” he added.

“It was a different side of England. They have show that winning a series is important. I don’t know why they are facing flak.” Gill has been among the runs and has already passed the 600 mark in three Tests. Although he managed just 16 and 6 in the third game, the previous two outings in Leeds and Edgbaston were memorable for him.

Moeen lauded India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for his batting. “He has been doing it for years and knows about his role in the team. He hasn’t been outstanding with the ball but that has a lot to do with the wickets on offer.”

Moeen wants to see Kuldeep Yadav in the playing XI. “Kuldeep should be included but in whose place. Washington Sundar bowled well and Jadeja batted well.”

He termed England lucky. “I think we were lucky as we managed to a get a few more runs in our second innings. England also did well to post 387 in their first innings after a challenging period,” he concluded.
