Virat and Rohit are modern-day greats. Virat has scored 74 hundreds in international cricket

India will square off against Sri Lanka at the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium on Thursday, January 12, for the 2nd ODI, where Rohit Sharma and his men will look to clinch the three-match series 2-0.

The Men in Blue will be high on confidence after a stellar display in the first ODI. Virat Kohli started the year positively, as the 34-year-old scored his 45th One Day hundred in his first game of 2023. It was also his 2nd consecutive hundred in the fifty-over format.

Kohli scored 113 (87) and broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most centuries against Sri Lanka. Kohli struck his 9th century against the Island Nation, one more than Tendulkar.

Further, Virat completed 12,500 runs in ODIs.  In the forthcoming match, the former Indian skipper will eye another Sachin record and also look to surpass Mahela Jayawardene’s run tally in ODIs.

After the century in the first match, Kohli levelled with Sachin for most ODI centuries at home. Sachin and Virat have struck 20 hundred each, and the RCB star is aiming one more ton to displace Tendulkar for the record of most ODI centuries at home.

Secondly, Kohli has 12,584 runs in the longer white-ball format and is the 6th leading run scorer overall.  He needs 67 more runs to surpass Mahela Jayawardene’s tally of 12650 runs and take the fifth spot.
