Ricky Ponting said Virat Kohli is hungry for success and can still break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries.
Ponting admitted that adding 30 more hundreds is a big task but you can’t rule out Virat, considering his hunger for success in international cricket.
Virat recently broke his century drought when he hit an unbeaten 122 against Afghanistan. Kohli now only trails Sachin Tendulkar, having equalled Ricky’s 71 tons record.
“If you would have asked me three years ago, I would have said yes,” Ponting said on the ICC Review.
“It slowed down in the last three years but I still think Virat can surpass Sachin. There is no doubt,” he added.
“He is going to play cricket for many more years, but getting 30 hundreds is a huge task. That’s five or six Test hundreds a year for the next three or four years. If you add a few more in ODIs and T20Is on top of it.”
“You know Virat and his hunger for success. I will never say no when it is about him.”
