End of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s careers as BCCI to drop them for New Zealand series
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma dropped for the New Zealand series

Team India defeated New Zealand 3-0 in the recently concluded ODI series. Rohit Sharma scored a century after a long time and shared a match-winning partnership with Shubman Gill in the third and final ODI against the Black Caps.

While India played well against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Rohit was slammed for his captaincy last year.

Rohit is not a part of the T20 squad and Hardik Pandya will lead the Men in Blue against New Zealand. The selectors haven’t not included Sharma in the side after the ICC T20 World Cup.

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal said that it is not easy to lead across formats. Babar Azam, who is Pakistan’s skipper, is on the hit list of critics after the Men in Gree lost to Australia, England and New Zealand at home.

“I don’t support three captains for three formats. You can’t change your skipper as the 2023 ODI World Cup is not far away,” Akmal said in a video posted by former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt.

Akmal gave the example of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

“Virat Kohli ki himmat hai woh 5 saal nikaal gaya. Rohit Sharma ko ek saal nahi hua aur uski haalat dekh lo kya ho gayi. Toss me bataana bhool gaya ki batting karni hai ya bowling. (Kohli led India for five years without any problem. However, it has been just one year and look what happened to Rohit Sharma. He forgot if he has to bat or bowl after winning the toss),” said Akmal.
