Graeme Swann suggested that Virat Kohli should open the batting with Rohit Sharma, saying the former captain is not suited to play in the middle overs.
Kohli has been batting at No.3 for the Men in Blue in T20Is, but he fails to get going from the first ball of his innings, which is a cause of concern for the national team.
He has opened the batting for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.
‘Virat comes in and opens the batting in place of Ishan Kishan. When you have a player like Virat, you don’t want him to bat at No.3 in the middle order because he is not scoring as quickly as Suryakumar Yadav or Deepak Hooda when they first come in because that’s not his game.
“When Rohit can score quickly, Virat will do the same. Kohli and Sharma score heavily at the top. Hooda and SKY can follow them.”
India defeated England by 50 runs in the opening game, with Hardik Pandya scoring a fifty and dismissing four batters.
