Kane Williamson opened up on his camaraderie with Virat Kohli, stating that he knows him for long and shares a good rapport with the India skipper. Despite India’s defeat in the World Test Championship finale, Virat hugged Williamson on the field.
They both met for the first time in the 2008 ICC U-19 World Cup tournament in Malaysia when the Boys in Blue defeated the Kiwis in the semi-final to eventually win the ICC title by thumping South Africa in the championship match.
“Virat and I have known each other for a long time and we are mates. It’s always a great part of sports as you get the opportunity to meet people all around the world and form different friendships,” Kane Williamson told India Today in an exclusive interview.
“Different experiences that you have either together or against each other. And often you find a bit of common ground and share a few common interests,” Williamson added.
Virat had congratulated Kane for their historic win and said they showed great character to beat the Indian side.
