Former India player Venkatesh Prasad had slammed KL Rahul after his failure in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
However, he took to social media to laud the right-handed batter after his match-winning knock in the first ODI at the Wankhede Stadium.
“Excellent composure under pressure and a brilliant innings by KL Rahul. Top knock. Great support by Ravindra Jadeja and a good win for India. #INDvAUS,” he tweeted.
Rahul accumulated 75 runs off 91 deliveries while Jadeja slammed 45* runs. For Australia, Mitchell Starc took 3 wickets.
Earlier, the Men in Blue dismissed Australia for 188, with Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami taking three wickets each.
Chasing 189, India lost, Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav early in the innings.
