“The numbers clearly show that Varun Chakravarthy is the top T20 bowler in the world right now. He is more valuable than Bumrah. Whether it’s the powerplay, middle overs, or the 18th over, Varun is the captain’s trusted option. He has taken his game to another level since making his comeback, an impressive turnaround after initially losing his place due to fitness issues,” Badrinath said on Star Sports, as quoted by India Today.
“He’s a huge asset for India, almost like a weapon. He could be the difference in the 2026 T20 World Cup. If Varun fires, India’s chances of winning rise significantly,” Badrinath added.
Bumrah took three wickets in as many games at an economy of 6.58.
