Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar wanted to see Babar Azam lifting the Man of the Tournament trophy. He was not happy after the award went to David Warner. Babar was the highest run-getter in the ICC T20 World Cup. Shoaib termed the decision unfair. Warner helped Australia win games against teams like Pakistan and New Zealand. Warner scored 289 runs in seven matches at an average of 48.16 and a strike rate of over 140.

Meanwhile, Babar scored 303 runs in 6 matches at an average of 60.60. “Was really looking forward to see @babarazam258 becoming Man of the Tournament. Unfair decision for sure.”

Warner scored three fifties in the tournament at a strike rate of 146.70. However, Pakistan lost to Australia in the semi-final of the global event. Prior to the defeat, the Men in Green remained unbeaten in the Super 12 stage.
