Rohit Sharma won the toss and has decided to bowl first in the second T20I against Sri Lanka at Dharamshala.
The Himalayan town has witnessed steady rainfall over the past few days. This second T20 will get underway on time, however.
The pitch at the HPCA Stadium should help batsmen despite an even covering of grass on the surface. There is little chance of dew unlike in prior T20 games.
“We want to chase a total. It is going to be cold during the second innings but we are prepared for it. We have been on the road for long and injuries are bound to happen. However, it is important to give opportunities to the players who have been part of the playing XI,” said Rohit Sharma.
“We would have bowled as well as the wicket has been under cover for a long time due to.rainfall. We need improvement in several areas. Bunura Fernando and Danushka Gunathilaka in for us. Vandersay and Liyanage are out,” said Dasun Shanaka.
Prior to this second match, opener Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the entire series. He had suffered an injured wrist ahead of the first T20.
The visitors have lost five of their last six T20s and need to break this losing streak to stay alive in the series.
India is on a winning run of 10 consecutive T20s stretching back to November 2021.
