Umran Malik was finally given a chance to represent India in one-day internationals. The youngster was a part of the first ODI against New Zealand.
He bowled well in the first 6 overs of his spell, taking two wickets and conceding less than 6 runs in an over. However, the last three overs went for a lot of runs as he gave away 66 runs from 10 overs.
Malik reacted to his debut and wrote, “Always a proud moment to represent your country. And ODI debut is one such moment.”
Despite scoring 306 runs, the bowlers couldn’t defend the total, and New Zealand won the game by 7 wickets.
Tom Latham and Kane Williamson shared an unbeaten partnership of 221 runs.
Meanwhile, Umran has already represented India in 3 T20Is.
