India’s U-19 World Cup winning captain Yash Dhull scored two consecutive hundreds on his Ranji Trophy debut. In Delhi’s Elite Group H match against Tamil Nadu, he amassed 113 off 202 balls, including 14 fours and a six. Along with him, Dhruv Shorey smashed an unbeaten 107 to take Delhi to 228/0 in 65 overs before the contest was drawn, giving three points to Tamil Nadu due to first innings lead.
He is just the third player to score a century in both innings of a debut match after Nari Contractor (105 and 102 not out) for Gujarat in 1952-53 and Virag Awate (126 and 112) for Maharashtra in 2012-13.
Dhull is also the sixth batter from Delhi to score a century in both innings of the Ranji Trophy, joining the list featuring Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Surinder Khanna, Madan Lal, Ajay Sharma, Raman Lamba and Rishabh Pant.
Earlier, he accumulated 113 runs off 150 on day one of the match.
