Steve Smith century
Steve Smith scored his back-to-back hundred

Australia’s Steve Smith, who formed a reputation in Test cricket, stunned the viewers as he smashed back-to-back centuries in the BBL.

In the ongoing Sydney derby between Thunder and Sixers, Steve Smith scored an unbeaten 125(66), which included nine sixes and five fours.  Previously, on January 17, Smith had struck his maiden BBL hundred against Adelaide Strikers, where he gathered 101(56).

Smith, a red-ball maestro, often gets ignored by big domestic leagues because of his reputation of not being a hard-hitter. However, the credit for his recent surge must go to his new batting order.

Interestingly, the 33-year-old has hit both his centuries while opening the innings. Recently, Smith admitted that he enjoys opening the innings. Further, with Aaron Finch and David Warner’s slump, this fiery new role could even fetch Smith a spot in the national team. Here is the video of Smith reaching his hundred.

Australia skipper Aaron Finch took to Twitter to react to Smith’s innings.

Here are some of the fans’ reactions.

Interestingly, Smith brought up his centuries with a six in both matches.
