The inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) Final is just 10 days away and the fans, experts are keeping themselves entertained by making predictions and suggestions about various aspects of the marquee clash.
The WTC Final will be played between Team India and New Zealand at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton between June 18 and 22. The latest to jump on the hype train of the WTC final are former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan and former Kiwi all-rounder Scott Styris.
Irfan Pathan said that the Kane Williamson-led side will have a slight advantage over Virat Kohli and Co. Styris, on the other, went a step further and predicted the margin of the win for the Blackcaps.
“WTC Final, it’s the biggest Test match ever. I think New Zealand will have a 55-45 advantage. I also think Kane Williamson will be the highest scorer. And, in terms of highest wicket-taker – it will be between Trent Boult and Mohammad Shami,” said Irfan.
“I think New Zealand will win and they will win by 6 wickets. I think Devon Conway is going to be the highest run-scorer and Trent Boult will get the most wickets,” Styris said on Star Sports show, Cricket Connected.
The Kiwis are currently involved in a two-match Test series against England. After the first game ended in a stalemate, both teams will fancy their chances in the second Test, starting June 10 in Edgbaston.
Team India, on the other hand, are already at the venue ahead of the final showdown. They have now been permitted to train after completing a 5-day quarantine period in Southampton.
