“There were so many girlfriends in those days”: Former player recalls MS Dhoni mocking him during IND vs NZ Test series

Former fast bowler S Sreesanth recalled a hilarious incident regarding legendary captain MS Dhoni. He shouted at Sreesanth, who was not going to his fielding position and told him not to look for his girlfriend during the contest. The 42-year-old said that Dhoni thought he could caught a girlfriend from every venue.

Sreesanth was part of the teams that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. The former speedster spoke to Padamjeet Sehrawat.

“There were many girlfriends in those days and Dhoni thought that I would catch a girlfriend from every venue,” S Sreesanth said.

The incident happened during a Test match against New Zealand in 2010. Pragyan Ojha was bowling and Sreenath was not moving to his fielding position. MS Dhoni got angry and was seen shouting. He said that the fast bowlers’s girlfriend was not there where he was standing.

Dhoni once told him that he could have been more successful but he didn’t understand his potential.

“My captain and friend made me understand that my potential could have taken me to new heights in my career.”
