Beth Mooney ruled out of WPL 2023
Mooney picked up an injury in her team's opening game against Mumbai Indians.

Beth Mooney played a match-winning knock in the first T20I against India at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, December 9. She was ill before the contest and was unsure about playing the opening encounter.

After arriving in India last Sunday, she was battling a stomach bug and only attended one practice session before the game.

“I don’t want to go into details, but there was a needle in my butt at 3 am on Monday night, so I wasn’t in good shape, and it was pretty grim.”

She scored an unbeaten 89 runs off 57 balls, laced with 16 boundaries. Chasing 172, Australia won the game by 9 wickets, with Mooney and captain Alyssa Healy stitching a partnership of 73 runs in 8.5 overs.

Meanwhile, Mooney was dropped when she was on four as Radha Yadav failed to grab her catch at the backward point.
