Sanju Samson is one of India’s best batters, but the team management and selectors have never given him regular chances. He is the first one to get dropped, even after giving good performances.
Rishabh Pant has been given a long run without achieving anything in the shortest format, but he remains the favorite and is preferred over Samson.
That is exactly what happened during the ongoing ODI series against New Zealand. After his good display in the first ODI, Sanju had to make way for Deepak Hooda in the second contest.
Pant should have been facing the axe considering his failure in the first encounter, but he again got into the playing XI.
Fans were left fuming, and some made a statement through a special gesture at the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Captain Dhawan explained the reason behind dropping Samson. “We wanted the sixth bowler so samson missed out,” he said.
