Aakash Chopra is not confident that Prithvi Shaw will be included in the Playing XI in the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. The right-handed batter was recalled to the side after a long absence.
“Prithvi Shaw is back, but I am not sure he will play in the series. There was a lot of discussion on his selection in the past, and finally, he has made it to the team,” said Aakash Chopra.
Chopra mentioned that the Men in Blue are currently opening with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill, with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rahul Tripathi waiting to open the innings.
“Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill are the current openers. Rahul Tripathi and Ruturaj Gaikwad can also play as openers,” he added.
Aakash is unsure whether Shaw can dethrone Gill from his opening slot.
“Will Prithvi Shaw go ahead of Shubman Gill in the batting line-up? I have no idea, but he is in the team, which is good.”
