Team India is scheduled to play three-ODIs in South Africa. Rohit Sharma would be leading the Men in Blue for the first time after becoming a permanent skipper in limited-overs cricket.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Venkatesh Iyer have performed exceptionally well in the ongoing Vijay Trophy. Shikhar Dhawan, on the other hand, has amassed only 58 runs in five matches for Delhi.

There are speculations that he (Shikhar Dhawan vs SA) will not be considered for the upcoming matches.

However, former India batter Aakash Chopra has rallied behind the left-handed batsman.

“Dhawan deserves to be in the team as He is the Mr ICC in ODIs. India haven’t played a lot of ODIs in 2021, so why drop him? I think dropping him would be unfair,” he said
