It was a harsh move given SRH's fortunes didn't change under Kane Williamson as well.

Former England spinner Graeme Swann feels Australian batsman David Warner was sacked from captaincy by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) over his comments on teammate Manish Pandey, who was dropped by SRH for their matches against Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals after struggling to score runs quickly in his first couple of knocks.

David Warner had termed the decision to drop Pandey from the XI a harsh one from the team management. “It was a harsh call in my opinion. But at the end of the day, it is a decision of the selectors to do that,” Warner had said after he was asked about Pandey’s absence from the playing XI at a post-match press conference.

Swann, who was a part of the IPL broadcasting team, observed that Warner had to pay the price for speaking against the team management over Pandey’s non-selection. The 34-year-old was sacked from captaincy on Sunday last week as Kane Williamson was appointed the skipper for the remainder of the season.
