Former Aussie wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist has named his top 5 T20I players, but the world’s best T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav has failed to make the cut.

Instead, he picked up Hardik Pandya, saying he is an awesome player. Pandya has been in great form since his return to competitive cricket after recovering from an injury.

Speaking to ICC’s official website, Gilchrist named the India all-rounder among the top stars of the game’s shortest format.

“Pandya is just an awesome player. He can bat, bowl and field well,” he said.

Gilchrist also named David Warner, Rashid Khan, Jos Buttler and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam.

Former all-rounder Shane Watson is a fan of Pandya. He said Hardik is ahead of Ben Stokes in the slam-bang version. “Hardik is a big player who contributes across departments. He is ahead of Ben Stokes in T20 cricket,” he added.
