The assistant coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise, Simon Katich, has stepped down from his post ahead of IPL 2022. Even though there is no official confirmation, a News Corp source states that he was not satisfied with the strategies followed by the Hyderabad-based franchise in the mega auction.

He disagreed with some of the selections made by the management in Bengaluru. Another former Australian cricketer, Tom Moody, is the head coach of the team at the moment. In IPL 2021, the Orange Army finished last in the points table and won just 3 out of the 14 matches.

Also, the way Warner was treated during the competition also led to massive controversy. Warner was sacked from captaincy midway and dropped from the playing XI. SRH bought Nicholas Pooran, Washington Sundar, Romario Shepherd, T Natarajan, Aiden Markram, Marco Jansen, Sean Abbott, Rahul Tripathi, and Glenn Phillips.

They had retained Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad, and Umran Malik for the 15th season of the tournament.
