Virat Kohli’s sudden decision to step down from Test captaincy has been met with mixed reactions. While some of the former cricketers have stated that writing was on the wall, there are some who are not happy with what unfolded after India’s defeat in South Africa.
Former India cricketer and one of the legends of the game, Sunil Gavaskar, has made a big remark. According to him, the BCCI would have sacked Virat Kohli for his team’s failure in the rainbow nation. He further stated the national cricket board takes overseas failures seriously and it has dealt with such setbacks with iron fist in the past and would have done the same this time as well.
“As a captain, I’ve experienced that overseas defeats are not taken too kindly by the board. The captain is in danger of being sacked. That has happened in the past and would’ve happened this time around,” he said.
