Azad said India should have opened with Rishabh Pant, who plays like Suryakumar Yadav.

Legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar reckoned that Team India would struggle to score even 140-150 if Suryakumar Yadav didn’t score runs in the remaining matches. The Men in Blue would take on England in the ICC T20 World Cup semi-final.

The 32-year-old Suryakumar has amassed 225 runs at an average of 75 in five matches of the tournament. Gavaskar heaped praise on the right-handed batter and called him Mr. 360-degree batter.

“He is the new Mr. 360 degree of international cricket. He has got every shot in the book. The way he hits his strokes makes him a dangerous batter to deal with if you are in a rival side,” Gasavaskar said to India Today.

Yadav scored an unbeaten 25-ball 61 with the help of six fours and four sixes to contribute to India’s massive win over Zimbabwe in the last match of the Super 12 stage.

“He is turning out to be the player who is taking India to totals which the bowlers can defend. India would not have reached even 150 had he not scored 61 against Zimbabwe,” he added.
