Star batter Virat Kohli has returned to India for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa. He is back in the country after six months, with the first contest set to be played on November 30 in Ranchi.
The series will mark Virat’s first appearance for the Men in Blue at home since the white-ball matches against England in February before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He then played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and played a key role in their maiden title win in June. Kohli stayed back in India to celebrate RCB’s success in Bengaluru, but it took a horrific turn after several people were killed in a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Meanwhile, Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar refused to confirm Virat’s place in the team for the global event, saying the tournament is still far away and the veteran will have to perform to keep his place intact.
He has been told to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to get much-needed game time, considering his retirement from the other two formats of the game.
Kohli has been a top performer in one-day internationals, and many feel he is the greatest player in the history of the ODIs. With over 14,000 runs and 51 hundreds, he still has the capability of winning the matches.
