Chasing 174 to win their first game of the Super 4 stage, the Lankans were given a flying start by openers Pathum Nissanka (52 off 37 balls) and Kusal Mendis (57 off 37 balls).

Despite a few hiccups in gthe middle overs, the Island nation crossed the line with Bhanuka Rajapaksa (25) and Dasun Shanaka (33) making match-winning contributions.

Earlier, India managed 173/8 after being invited to bat first. Rohit Sharma scored a well-compiled 72 off 41 balls with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes. Suryakumar Yadav (34) was the next top performer with the bat.

For Sri Lanka, Dilshan Madushanka was the pick of the bowlers, dismissing three batters. Chamika Karunaratne and Dasun Shanaka took two wickets each, respectively.
