Team India’s Test skipper refused to comment on the future of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. The two players have been found wanting in the last few series, and despite management’s backing, Pujara and Rahane have not returned the favour. While Cheteshwar scored 124 runs at an average of 20.67, the former vice-captain accumulated managed 136 runs at 22.67 in the recently concluded Test series in the Rainbow nation.

Following India’s defeat in the last Test match, Virat was asked about their future.

“Obviously, the batting has let us down in the last two games when we needed to step up. There is no running away from that. (On Pujara, Rahane) I cannot sit here and talk about what’s going to happen in the future. You’ll probably have to speak to the selectors about what they have in mind because this is not my job.”
