South Africa players will be given a choice to play in the Indian Premier League 2022 or stay back in South Africa to compete against Bangladesh.

South Africa have released their main bowler Kagiso Rabada on the eve of the first ODI versus India. The step has been taken to manage his workload.

“Proteas seam bowler, Kagiso Rabada, has been released from the team for the Betway One-Day International (ODI) series against India due to high workloads over a sustained period of time and the need for him to recover prior the outbound Test series against New Zealand next month,” Cricket South Africa (CSA) said in a statement.

The board further stated no replacement will be added to the squad as there is an extended team in place due to the Bio-Secure Environment.
