Ravi Shastri is likely to leave Team India after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in the UAE and Oman. His contract is expiring after the world event and there are speculations that his contract might not get renewed despite his success.
Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly will travel to England and will stay back until the end of the second Test match at Lord’s. He is likely to speak to Ravi Shastri about his future with the national team.
BCCI is keen on having Rahul Dravid as the new head coach of the team. “Too early to talk about this, but as you are aware the president, secretary, treasurer, and vice-president are landing in London today. So they will interact with Shastri and the team and discuss various things around the tour and future of Indian cricket. If there is much to the topic of Shastri not looking to continue, it will surely be discussed over the course of the Lord’s Test. But I would still say too early,” the source said as quoted by Inside Sport.
Under Shastri, India defeated Australia twice in Australia, won ODI and T20I series in South Africa and New Zealand, and also qualified for the finale of the World Test Championship.
