BCCI president Sourav Ganguly on Friday spoke about Virat Kohli’s successor as Team India’s Test skipper, while revealing the parameters for the new leader in red-ball cricket.

The 33-year old stepped down from Test captaincy after India’s series defeat in South Africa. While Rohit Sharma is the top contender, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah are also in the race.

“Obviously, there are certain parameters of leadership and whoever fits the bill will be the next Indian Test captain. I believe selectors will have a name in mind and they will discuss it with the top BCCI officials – President and Secretary – and it will be announced in due course of time.”

India will take on Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series.
