A lot was said and written about Virat Kohli’s removal from the ODI captaincy. He has been replaced by Rohit Sharma in the fifty-over format as well.

Fans didn’t like the way Virat was treated by the BCCI and accused Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah of disrespecting one of the legends of the game.

Meanwhile, Sourav has revealed the main reason behind the change of guard in ODIs. Speaking to ANI, Ganguly stated the national selection committee had to a tough call after Virat refused to continue as T20I skipper.

“BCCI had requested Virat Kohli to not step down as the T20I skipper but he didn’t agree – and selectors then feel it’s not right to have two captains in white ball format”.

Virat had left the leadership role in the shortest format after the ICC T20 World Cup.
